Prior to the Birth of MELON
An Earth Summit conference was held by the UN Environmental Development Council in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil in June 1992. NGO groups from different countries gatherd for Global Forum. An Earth Constitution was formed. It was emphasized that each NGO group as well as the local people continue to make effort ensure the realization of the objective alliance Committee(ICA) opened a World Conference, where the "Declaration for Continuous Development of Environment" was formed to act as a regional agent to carry the environmental control message to the people of Miyagi Prefecture.

Birth of MELON
In July, 1993, MELON was formed by the volunteer members of Cooperative Alliance Committee, Citizens, Scientists, and Lawyers in order to contemplate the earth environment from the local point of view. We have decided to take an active part as a nonprofit foundation since December, 1995 so as to perpetuate our activities.
Objectives
1. Research, Study, Advocacy on Global and Local Environment and People's Life.
2. Promotion of Education, Culture, Enlightment on Global and Local Environment.
3. Planning and Executing Activities to conserve Global and Local Environment

Sectional meeting on Green and Food
Study on the actual conditions and Policy about "Green & Environment",
"Food& Environment", "Agriculture & Environment", Field work, exchange with farmers and consumers.

Miyagi Center for Climate Change Actions check!
MELON was designated as Miyagi Center for climate change actions by the Governor of Miyagi. It was the first case in Japan
